METHODS OF ASSESSMENT OF THE REGIONS’ INVOLVEMENT IN GLOBAL ECONOMY

Abstract

Considering the fact that the globalization processes, in our opinion, will have increasing influence on the regions’ economy, it is advisable to create a system of indicators to measure the involvement of the regional economy in globalization processes.

We have developed author’s methods of assessment of the regions’ involvement in global economy. This methods are based on assessment of export and import shares in Gross Regional Product (hereinafter – GRP) and comparison of these indicators dynamics in the considering region with the dynamics in other regions and in all-Russian scale. Methods are considered on the example of Kostroma Region, adjacent regions and regions, whose GRP is comparative with Kostroma Region’s ones. Methods are also applicable to assess the involvement of region’s industrial complex in globalization processes.

Analysis of the regions’ involvement in global economy can be included in the regional prognosis of social-and-economic development in medium term.

Recommendations from the analysis of the regions’ involvement in global economy can be the part of regional plans of strategy of social-and-economic development implementation as well as different regional programs.
